Do you ever see a Japanese woman and say to yourself “I can’t figure out if she is 20 or 40!”
It’s a pretty common occurrence. Meanwhile, US advertisements are smothered in anti-aging product ads. Sure, some of the products we buy are Japanese but, at the end of the day, Japanese ladies are doing something we’re justsimply not. Turns out—a lot of something’s. Such as these:
Savory Breakfasts
We acknowledge breakfast as an important meal in the U.S., but we tend to either eat extremely filling but fattening items like omelets and bacon, or light foods which make us hungry within the hour. Japanese ladies tend to eat food you’d normally consider lunch foods. A common Japanese breakfast might consist of a little bowl of steamed rice, miso soup with tofu, some seaweed, a white egg omelet or a piece of fish for protein and a cup of green tea. Observe that final addition—the Japanese drink some green tea with almost every meal, significantly elevating their anti-oxidant count.
You’ve never had Fresh Until…:
You find so many more open-air farmer's markets in Japan compared to in the states. Our weekly Farmer’s Markets have nothing on them. That’s because they really treasure fresh ingredients.
The Japanese additionally take a lot of pride in how their meal looks. So they adhere to these guidelines to give their dishes the most attention:
1)    Under no circumstances overload a plate
2)    Lightly dress food, if at all
3)    Food is featured on plates 1/3rd the size of commonAmerican dishes
Adhering to such rules leaves barely any space for over-eating.
Gone Fishing:
Have a buddy who cooks Japanese food? Ever notice how fishy her kitchen smells? That’s because the average Japanese man or woman eats 150 pounds of fish (to the Americans' 35 lbs) a year. This does wonders for their heart health, brain functioning, and complexion and hair.
(If you ever take up a profession in entertainment—say you become a voice instructor in LA to the stars or a talk show host—and have to be “on” all the time and attractive—which you will because those looking for singing lessons in LA are quite demanding—make daily trips to a fish store!)
Skip Dessert:
While we’re singing our own praises for just having one piece of cake or one scoop of ice cream, Japanese ladies avoid the sweet stuff all together. They would rather have fresh fruit and tea for dessert.
If you’re hoping to add a couple of extra years to your life, you don’t have to go to the one Japanese store that may be miles away. You can merely copy these simple tricks.
